Office Visits

Starting orthodontic treatment is a big decision. We understand you have personal reasons for improving the way you look and feel. We will work with you every step of the way to make sure your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible.

Improving your smile starts with a consultation!

Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet our team and learn more about orthodontics. You’ll receive a complete initial exam and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your visit with Dr. Richter, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms
  • Provide a complete orthodontic exam to determine necessity & timing of treatment
  • Review all relevant x-rays provided by your dentist
  • Discuss financial information, insurance, and payment plan options

Please call our office and a friendly appointment coordinator will be happy to help you find a convenient time for your first visit!

What happens after the initial consultation?

After your consultation, you're one step closer to achieving the smile you've always wanted! To provide the most comprehensive care, orthodontic records will need to be taken at this point.

Orthodontic records typically consist of photographs, special x-rays and impressions of your teeth. There is no substitute for the information that these diagnostic procedures can provide. Dr. Richter will evaluate your images and models to detail your unique treatment plan. Depending on your individual circumstances we may suggest meeting for a follow-up consultation to discuss your treatment plan with you further, or we may be ready to schedule to begin your treatment.

Every patient’s orthodontic treatment needs are different. Be assured that we greatly value your input, have your best interests in mind, and will guide you every step of the way toward your beautiful new smile!

Scheduling appointments

Visiting the orthodontist regularly is an important part of keeping your orthodontic treatment on track. We will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible.

We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups, especially during your orthodontic treatment. If extensive dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your dentist's office to make sure you receive the best possible care.
